Its communication force makes us surpass geographical, cultural, linguistic, religious or political borders and imagine ourselves on the stage, living fascinating moments.
 
Mihai Popescu, born on the 22nd of July, 1909 at Târgovişte, is considered one of the most important actors of the Romanian theatre, a prototype of the intelectual actor, capable of transmitting depth of his ideas and his own conception about theatre.
The son of a priest from Târgovişte, with academical and PHD studies at Vienna, the actor from Târgovişte creates memorable roles in plays written by Shakespear, Schiller, Dumas-the son, Clifford Odets, Hauptmann, Mirco Jalusich, Mircea Ştefǎnescu, Camil Petrescu, Turgheniev or Konstantin Simonov.
 
The children’s and youth  theatre, as well as a street of the town bear his name.
