Tony Bulandra Municipal Theater - 20 years since its inauguration
Tony Bulandra Theater in Târgoviște presents both shows for adults and shows specially designed for its youngest spectators. The theater became known quite quickly, thanks to its team of artists and through a rich repertoire consisting of classical texts, but also of new titles.
The theater was inaugurated on January 30th, 2002, on the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great national playwright Ion Luca Caragiale, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Răzvan Teodorescu. However, the band's tradition has a much longer history.
On September 1st, 1974, "Tony Bulandra" Popular Theater was born at the House of Culture of Târgoviște with the premiere of the play "Adâncimi". The theater was the successor of the comedy and drama group of the City Cultural Center, whose debut took place in the fall of 1944 with Caragiale’s play "A Lost Letter".
On October 21st, 1996, the Local Council of Târgoviște Municipality approved the establishment of the municipal professional theater “Tony Bulandra”.
