„Spring is coming”
"Spring is coming
It is spreading all over the country
Little flowers on the plains
Let's gather their children ... ”
All the Romanians recognize these verses, we sang them in childhood, or maybe we sing them now with children or grandchildren. Spring is greeted with great joy by everyone, regardless of age.
Come, come spring is the most famous song about spring of all time. With a simple melodic line, the song represents a foray into the world of plants and animals and has been part of the childhood of Romanians for about 8 decades.
What is less known is the fact that these verses were born in Târgoviște.
The author of these lyrics is Smaranda Gheorghiu, daughter of Târgoviște, niece of Grigore Alexandrescu, writer and activist for women's rights, also known as Mother Smara as Veronica Micle called her.
