About
Hidden between the northeast hills of Târgoviște, just 5 km away from the city, in a picturesque natural setting, the Viforâta monastery has its beginnings during the reign of Vlad Voda VI (1530 - 1532).
The ensemble is made up of a quadrangular pecinct for chilies that includes, on the northern side, a paraclis. To these are added the church, a small museum and a xenodochium, as well as several buildings outside the pecinct, including a chapel in the cemetery.
The monastery also has a remarkable museum, with many expensive objects of worship of precious metals, embroideries, icons, and old religious books of great significance.
