Because of its location in the center of the country, near big cities like Bucharest, Brașov, Târgoviște and Ploiești and its easy accessibility, Bucegi is the most visited tourist destination in Romanian Carpathians, for which he was named "the Romanian Alpine Boulevard." You are one of the over one million tourists who annually visit this protected area.
Forests occupy 65 % of the protected area, the most common being forests of beech, fir, spruce and a mixture of these species by altitudine.

Bucegi Mountains fauna is also very diverse, from insects to evolved species such as amphibians, reptiles, birds and protected species of mammals. The most know protected species are: The Brown bear, The wolf, Lynx, The Black Goat, Western capercaillie, The Raven.
The park has 14 Nature reserves and a total of 46 Natural Monuments.
