About

The story of the current Metropolitan of Târgoviște begins in the sixteenth century, when the Romanian Country's ruler, Neagoe Basarab, decided, at the advice of Patriarch Nifon, to move the metropolis from the Court of Argeș to Târgoviște.
Today, we remember the story of the biggest and most beautiful church of the city of Targoviste, of its erection, as well as of the centuries that passed over it, until its uninspired demolition in 1889 and the building of the present church of the current Metropolitan Church built according to the plans of the French architect Lecomte du Nouy.
The Metropolitan Church of Târgoviște is a representative tourist objective of the central area of the city and a cultural and historical landmark for our country.
